Have you ever wished you had your own cow or bull? Here is your chance. We currently have 10 unadopted residents here at New Gokul and they would love to have a guardian.
Our Guardian programme allows people to make regular donations to the goshalla project to help with buying food, paying vet bills, purchasing medicines and generally keeping the cows happy and healthy. Most guardians donate for all our residents but some adopt one particular cow or bull and become their guardian.
Discrimination is a big factor and challenge of modern times, and it even occurs in the world of bovines! Many people will only adopt a cow, a female, because she is the Mother and gives the milk and is so dear to Krishna. However the bull is just as dear to Him, and after all we can't even have cows without bulls. The traditional family unit is not complete without the Mother, who produces and feeds the children, AND the Father, who works the land and brings home the food for the family to eat. So we must not forget the bull and we must never see him as less important than the cow. Krishna made Srimati Radharani as his feminine counterpart so he could enjoy with her. Masculine and feminine are different but neither is more important than the other.

So, have I convinced you to adopt one of our charming boys? If not, perhaps the boys themselves can sway you. Here is a little information about them. Profiles for all the cows and bulls can be found here.

If you would like to adopt any of these beautiful boys, please e-mail us at goshalla@krishnatemple.com, call us on 01923 851 000 (ask for the farm - there isn't always anyone in the office though so e-mail is a better way) or write to us. Address on the Contact Us page. We can then send you a guardian form to your address for you to fill out and return to us. The cost of looking after a single cow or bull averages at £31 a month, and this is the minimum donation for adopting a cow. If you would like to donate but don't have that much to give you can still be a general guardian using the same process.
We don't like asking for money, but since the cows can't speak somebody has to do it for them!
